Handcrafted Broom

April 24 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

Handcrafted Broom

with Poliana Danila

Saturday, April 24 (rain date Sunday, April 25)

11am – 3pm

One meeting, in person

Glebe House Outdoor Garden, 635 Main Street

We will make a 16-inch broom using an ancient technique and an ancient plant: corn. This broom is an extraordinarily effective sweeper, and a beautiful art piece for the wall. You will be able to choose from natural and black-dyed broom corn, and you will choose the color of the cord. Tools will be provided for your use during class. At the end of the class, you will leave with a beautiful broom.

About Poliana Danila:

Poliana is a landscape designer turned fiber artist and broom maker as she loves working with whatever the plants give/gift us. Originally from Romania, Poliana watched her parents and grandparents working in the gardens, teaching in school and weaving with the wool from their sheeps. She has Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Landscape Design/Horticulture and she has had the privilege to take weaving, knotting, and plant dyeing classes with different well-known artists at fiber studios, including the Textile Art Center in Brooklyn/ Manhattan and Fiber Craft Studio in Spring Valley.
