Barrett Art Center/Dutchess County Art Association, located in an 1800s Greek Revival townhouse listed on the National Register of Historic Places, conducts exhibitions of contemporary art and historic merit; operates a year-round art school for adults and children, and presents educational programs-workshops, seminars, lectures, gallery talks and tours at its downtown Poughkeepsie location. In addition, a darkroom, printing press and lending libraries are available to the public and members.

The CENTER for Performing Arts at Rhinebeck offers a variety of productions in its 165 seat theater. The CENTER fosters an environment where artists are free to create and where community members of all ages and abilities can experience the arts as performers, audiences, students and teachers. Upstate Films is THE place for international cinema throughout the Hudson Valley. Since its founding in 1972, Upstate has been engaged in exhibiting contemporary cutting edge films as well as the artistically enduring films of cinema's past 100 years. The original theater was renovated and an additional 88-seat screening room was added in 1999. Upstate often presents lively in-person discussions with both emerging and established filmmakers.

Rhinebeck Chamber Music Series produces an annual series of chamber music featuring world-renowned professionals as well as local and emerging artists, and coordinates arts residencies in the schools.
