Ancestral African Whisperings: The 2020 Codes- Artists’ Talk

February 15 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Queen City 15 Fine Art Gallery presents “Ancestral African Whisperings: The 2020 Codes” in celebration of Black History Month. Ancestral Whisperings come through numerous forms of communications. Often they are heard, felt and seen when we are in nature, meditative states, reading, listening to music, dreaming and viewing art. In the solitude of silence we are able to enter into our Ancient Future/Past where images, symbols, colors, signs, are revealed to us as artists. We then integrate that information into our artistic creative expressions.
In this exhibit, the artwork of the four women of African Descent, Josephine Green, Makeba “KEEBS” Rainey, Ingrid Thompson and Rochleigh Z Wholfe express their individual interpretations of those whisperings, stirrings, callings received. As the saying goes, “The Ancestors Live In Your Blood”, we invite you to journey inside these images to “see what you see and enjoy what you discover!” from Rochleigh Z Wholfe M.F.A, artist and co-curator of this exhibition. Talent Davis, a local songwriter will be performing a new work written specifically for the theme of this show during the opening.
