INDUCING YOUR ATHENA–Writing Workshop with Alex Smith
Develop your film, novel, or novella idea with writer and director Alex Smith. Alex and his brother Andrew’s film Walking Out premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival, called “a brutal, hauntingly beautiful survival drama” by the Los Angeles Times. Alex teaches at NYU and Columbia, and taught at the University of Texas, Austin for a decade, where he was the Creative Director of the University of Texas Film Institute. Topics include Three-Act Structure, Plot vs. Premise, Plant & Payoff, and Discovery & Reversal. Learn to build a synopsis, treatment, and outline of the ideas percolating in your mind. Workshop meets for 4, four-hour sessions Jan. 17, 24 (no meeting Jan. 31): Feb. 7, 14.
