Metal, Acid, Line: Etchings from the Loeb

March 27

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 12:00 am, repeating until April 12, 2020

Spanning time and geography, this focused exhibition features more than a dozen prints from the permanent collection chosen for their common medium: etching. Etching, a printmaking process in which artists create images on metal plates with the aid of chemical action–traditionally, acid–began being used by artists around 1500 and continues in use today. This selection, co-curated with Christina Tenaglia, Art Department, Vassar College, was made in conjunction with Art 209, a studio course that teaches the fundamentals of intaglio printmaking including the techniques of etching and drypoint as well as aquatint, engraving, embossing, and stippling.
