Our featured artists Emmanuel Ofori and Xuewu Zheng draw from their cultural heritage’s as a form of inspiration in their work. Emmanuel, a painter, ceramicist, and furniture maker was born Ghana, Africa, and came to the US at the age of 13. He says, “ My art tends to utilize African motifs, symbols, fabrics and patterns in combination with western imagery and ideas.”

Patterns, symbols, and colors also play an intricate role in the creation processes of Xuewu Zheng. Xuewu is a painter, print maker, and sculptor; He was born in Heilongjiang Province, China and came to the US at the age of 40. He believes “The practice of art is endless. The inner experience during deep exploration is always dreamy and wonderful for me. Meditation is the content of my life and my work”.

Xuewu came to this country as a visiting professor at the University of Chapel Hill, N.C. in 2004 and received his MFA from SUNY New Paltz in 2020. He has exhibited and curated around the world.
Emmanual received his BFA at SUNY Purchase and he won the Presidents Award for painting in 2018 there. Both Manny and Xuewu are members of Queencity 15 gallery.
