Thomas Huber artist talk and a poetry reading by Edwin Torres
The event will take place on Beacon’s Second Saturday and will be followed by a reception from 6-9 pm.
The current exhibition Thomas Huber: After Some Time continues through December 17.
Thomas Huber’s work was the subject of solo exhibitions at Matteawan gallery and Theo Ganz Studio, Beacon, NY, and a two-person show at the Emma Willard School, Troy, NY. His work has been included in the Mohawk Hudson Regional Invitational, Group Show, Albany Center Gallery, Albany, NY; and the 2015 Artists of the Mohawk Hudson Region, Juried by Rachel Uffner, at the University Art Museum, University at Albany, Albany NY, as well as exhibitions at Matteawan Gallery (The UV Portfolio, The Flat File Show); Denise Bibro Fine Art, NYC; BAU, Beacon, NY; the Edward Hopper House, Nyack, NY; the Woodstock Artist’s Association and Museum in Woodstock, NY; Hudson Opera House, Hudson, NY; and Van Brunt Gallery, Beacon, NY. In 2014 Huber curated the exhibition Salon des Refuses at the Garrison Art Center, Garrison, NY. He received a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York and currently lives in Cold Spring, NY.
Edwin Torres is the author of seven books of poetry, including, Ameriscopia (University of Arizona Press), Yes Thing No Thing (Roof Books), and The PoPedology Of An Ambient Language (Atelos Books). He entered poetry through performance art in New York City’s East Village in the early 90’s. The neighborhood’s diversity plus the combined forces of Dixon Place, The Nuyorican Poets Café, and The St. Marks Poetry Project, shaped his multi-disciplinary approach to language. Fellowships include: New York Foundation for the Arts, The Foundation for Contemporary Performance Art, The DIA Arts Foundation, and The Poetry Fund. Anthologies include: American Poets in the 21st Century: The New Poetics Vol. 2, Post-Modern American Poetry Vol. 2, and Aloud: Voices From The Nuyorican Poets Café. He’s just completed “Open Sessions” a 2-year arts residency at The Drawing Center in NYC and his next book, “Xoeteox: the infinite word object” will be published by Wave Books in 2018. He currently lives in Beacon, NY.
