How do you write a love letter in American Ink?

These online, consecutive community circles ask: "How do you write a love letter in American Ink?" It's a fraught question, counterintuitive-- but necessary also. The answers aren't as important here as the labors in orbiting the question itself: There are no finish lines in love. Language based-visual artist Jena Argenta will guest facilitate these Breathe/Read/Write (BRW) circles. In the words of BRW founder & New School Writing Professor, Lisa Freedman, this space "offers a community where poems help us hold the world with all its contradictions, violence, unprecedentedness & mercy---& where meditation & free writing help us forge connections as we express ourselves beyond ourselves." Argenta is working on a series of visual works by the same title. She'll briefly introduce us to global calligraphies & cultures as an alternate lens for understanding the materiality of writing, communication, & cultural legacies. Along with this savoring visual works, we'll take sustenance in the form of free writing prompts from "lovers" who've come before-- Gloria Anzaldúa, Judy Grahn, Ocean Vuong, Claudia Rankine & more. No previous experience is required-- just a commitment to chase courage & a love larger than oneself. For more information, visit https://www.jenaargenta.com/blog-love-letters-in-american-ink
