I paint gradations of contour lines that explore the physical distance from one color to the next. In this series, lines are painted in tight succession, changing in tone a little bit each time. As the lines move from their place of origin, they become more obscured and intertwined with each other, leading the eye further into forms of increased resonance. This progression leads you to a new place, but you don’t notice until you look back and see how far you’ve come.
The way we spend our time has an undercurrent of variation, due to the slow and steady influences that affect the mind and body. These moments are manifested abstractly in the work: Bright color palettes shed light onto ordinary surface material, where subtle changes become the central focus.
