Workshop Description: Connect with people near and far by mastering four steps to craft a powerful artist statement that expresses who you are as an artist and what drives your art.
Materials Needed: Writing tools – pen, pencil, paper and/or laptop
About the Teaching Artist: Karen Maserjian Shan is a communications professional, editor, and writer with an expertise in connecting people and businesses through written communications in print and digital platforms. She has written more than 1,600 news articles for print and digital publications, plus social media posts, marketing materials and reports, and currently is a senior associate with the public relations firm, C.C. Sullivan. Ms. Shan is also a contributor to Sanctuary magazine, a co-founder of Children’s Writers of the Hudson Valley, and a past committee member of Arts Mid-Hudson, the Millbrook Literary Festival and the New York: Eastern Upstate Chapter of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. Her children’s book, Jobs in Transportation, was published earlier this year.
